Helensburgh Leisure Centre
Contract type – Replacement Roof Design & Build
The roof of the Helensburgh Leisure Centre was badly damaged during Storm Eowyn in January 2025. Although not involved in the original build, hub North Scotland was appointed by Argyll and Bute Council to deliver the installation of a replacement roof and repair internal damage to the centre.
As insurance loss adjusters were involved it took some time to reach agreement for the works and Galliford Try FM were appointed as the main contractor for the £3 million project. A temporary roof had to be installed first to make the building watertight and allow internal stripping out work of water damaged walls and fittings.
A permanent replacement roof had to be designed and approved with work starting on the installation of that beginning in March 2026. The installation works are due to be completed in October 2026.
The discovery of more internal water damage has meant no final date has been agreed yet for the completion of works.
