Forres Academy – North Schools Programme

Contract type – Design & Build

Construction began in June 2026 on the new £88.6 million Forres Academy on behalf of Moray Council with Balfour Beatty as the main contractor.

The new academy will accommodate up to 1,120-pupils, including 40 enhanced additional support needs places, and is being built on a site between the existing Forres Academy and Applegrove Primary School.

The new building is expected to be completed in autumn 2028. The existing academy will be demolished to make way for a new car park and a 3G sports pitch.

Forres is being delivered through the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme and is also part of the hub North Scotland North Schools Programme initiative.
