When the boat comes in – Contractors help out drama pupils for pirates venture

Contractors working on the new Lossiemouth High School stepped in to help out when drama pupils were left all at sea.

The S1 pupils in the current school building wanted the bow of a boat for a pirates production they were working on but couldn’t find anything suitable.

When Balfour Beatty, the main contractors on the £42 million new school being delivered by hub North Scotland for Moray Council, heard about their plight, they were quick to throw the pupils a lifeline.

Balfour Beatty’s site joiner David McDonald turned his hand to boat building to construct and deliver a wooden bow that fitted the bill.

It won plaudits from the delighted pirate pupils, who quickly found their sea legs, and the boat is now set for a long life on future productions.
