Key appointments by hub North as operations continue to expand

Nov 5, 2026

Hub North Scotland has announced two key appointments as its operations continue to grow.

John Edwards, who has been with the business since March 2023, has been appointed to the new role of Place & Development Director with immediate effect.

In his new position John will be responsible for working with clients, governments and agencies, supply chain partners, developers and funders to develop, source and secure new opportunities, and supporting transformational planning across key sectors including education, health, housing, energy, leisure and social care.

John originally joined hub North as a Project Director and led on the delivery of the Union Street Central streetscape and new Market projects, which are part of Aberdeen City Council’s £150 million City Centre and Beach master Plan. He has also been part of the hub North team working on Highland Council’s £2.1 billion Highland Investment Plan and has also been leading on hub North’s housing strategy.

Hub North’s Development Manager, Marcus Weurman, has been promoted to Project Director. Marcus has been with the hub programme since 2017, originally with hub South East, and is a chartered surveyor with more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial and residential sectors.

He has been working across several projects for hub North, advising clients on place-based reviews and how to use estate assets more effectively and efficiently.

Hub North Scotland’s Chief Executive Richard Park said the new appointments underlined the growth of its operations and strengthened the offer to public sector clients.

He added: “Both John and Marcus have already made invaluable contributions as key members of our team. Their new roles will take that even further and strengthens the commitment to our clients to help them meet the challenges of developing new community infrastructure and improving service delivery.”
