Hub North Scotland successfully handed over the new £23 million Greyhope School and Community Hub in Torry this week to Aberdeen City Council.
The development has been built on the site of the former Torry Academy in Tullos Circle with Morrison Construction as the main contractor and Halliday Fraser Munro as architects.
It has been delivered on time, on budget and defect free and will provide a primary school for up to 434-pupils with early learning and nursery provision for 100-children and space for essential services such as housing, community learning, a library, cafe and health services.
Ewen Fowlie, operations director for Hub North Scotland, said: “This has been another great team effort to deliver a fantastic school and community facility which will be a focal point for Torry for generations to come.”
Mike Bruce, managing director of Morrison Construction North East said: “We are delighted to have completed construction on time, safely and on budget. We hope that everyone from the local area will make full use of the facilities in the coming months and years.”
Councillor Martin Greig, convenor of Aberdeen City Council’s education and children’s services committee, said: “It will not only be a school for hundreds of pupils but will also be a real community hub with welcome facilities for the local community.”
Staff and pupils at Walker Road School will relocate to the new building on 1 November.
Greyhope is the second of two new schools delivered for Aberdeen City Council this year by Hub North Scotland with Morrison Construction as main contractor. Countesswells School was completed ahead of schedule in March.
