Dunoon Primary School extension work to begin
Morrison Construction has secured an £8.3 million contract for the refurbishment and expansion of Dunoon Primary on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council and private sector partner hub North Scotland Ltd.
The phased build will involve the refurbishment of the landmark Victorian building while adding a new extension, with pupils remaining on-site for the duration of the works. When complete the expanded school will be able to accommodate 300 pupils and 30 early learning and childcare spaces and will also boast a gym, library and staff accommodation with the new and old elements of the building joined by a feature staircase.
Donald McLachlan, Managing Director for Morrison Construction’s Highland business, said: “The new school will become the fourth that Morrison is currently constructing for Argyll and Bute and hub North Scotland Ltd, with the new Campeltown Grammar and Oban High schools, as well as the new Kirn Primary School, already on site.
“We look forward to continuing this spirit of partnership and are confident that with our experienced and dedicated site management team we will deliver what we do best – that is building quality facilities.”
Work will start this month and is scheduled for completion in spring 2019.
