Oban High School
Contract type – Design, Build, Finance & Maintain
Oban High School opened in April 2018 to provide a modern, flexible and inclusive building, which has created an inspiring centre of learning for pupils, staff and the community.
The distinctive £36 million building can cater for up to 1,300-pupils and occupies a prominent location next to the historic An Dunan Iron Age monument and with views across the Sound of Kerra.
Built on the site of the existing school, the new building has a large, bright and airy central atrium, giving pupils the choice of two dining areas on different levels, with the ground floor used for assembly and other events.
There is also a new games hall, dance studio, fitness rooms and a sensory room. The red brick former school was demolished to make way for new car parking, a bus turning area, new pedestrian access and social space.

The facilities at our new school are truly fantastic, and are helping ensure that we are able to fulfill our vision to provide the best possible education for all our young people, whilst also being able to nurture their social, emotional and vocational talents.
