Lochside Academy

Contract type – Design, Build, Finance & Maintain

Lochside Academy in Aberdeen opened its doors in August 2018 and replaced the former Torry and Kincorth academies to become the largest school in the city, which can cater for up to 1,350-pupils.

The £47 million three-story high-tech campus is located on the southern outskirts of the city and has a six-lane swimming pool, fitness suite and a multi-use games hall, all in a separate sports block, along with a 3G pitch which are all available to the local community.

The education facilities include a state-of-the-art ICT centre, a rooftop art studio and terrace, a design and technology area, drama and dance studios and an adjacent garden.

Two atriums act as social hubs and there is a separate vocational teaching space for light industrial training along with craft and design workshops, all located around a central courtyard.

I think the facilities speak for themselves, it is a school fit for the 21st century. The opportunities it will give staff, pupils and the wider community are just endless to be honest.
