Campbeltown Grammar School
Contract type – Design, Build, Finance & Maintain
Campbeltown Grammar School opened its doors for pupils in February 2018 and was immediately hailed as an “absolutely amazing” place for young people to learn in. The £26 million three-storey building can cater for up to 500-pupils from across the Kintyre peninsula.
A large, bright and airy central atrium provides an assembly and dining area for daily school life to revolve around, while further breakout areas around the building provide further social hub opportunities.
The new multi-use sports hall is also available for community use and the classrooms offer good views over the town to Davaar Island in Campbeltown Loch.
The former school buildings, which were built in 1969, were demolished to allow the construction of a new 3G sports pitch, a car park and a music pavilion for use by piping classes and other groups.
