Peterhead Cultural Quarter

Contract type – Restoration, Design & Build

Construction began in June 2026 on the new £19 million Peterhead Cultural Quarter development being delivered on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council with CHAP Construction as main contractor.

The historic 18th century Arbuthnot House on Broad Street, which was previously a merchant’s home then the base for Peterhead Burgh Council, will be restored and extended.

It will become a vibrant cultural destination housing the town’s library and a regional museum showcasing Aberdeenshire’s historical collections and artwork.

The new attraction will feature purpose-built galleries, temporary exhibition spaces, workshop and learning areas and a new restaurant with an outdoor terrace and a small retail area. The work is due to be completed in 2028.
