Aberdeen City Centre & Beachfront Masterplan – Castlegate

Contract type – City Regeneration

The Castlegate streetscape improvements are part of Aberdeen City Council’s £150 million city centre and beachfront masterplan. Morrison Construction Infrastructure are the main contractor.

Work began on the £14 million project in March 2026 and will transform an area of cultural, civic and historic significance for the city and act as an attractive link between the city centre and beach area.

The historic Mercat Cross will be refurbished and the Gordon Highlanders memorial statue relocated to another area of the site as part of the works, which are due to be completed in summer 2027.
