Development work is under way for the proposed Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital and Health Care Centre in Aviemore for NHS Highland.
Plans for the new facility have been lodged with the Highland Council and are awaiting a decision. The new hospital will have 24-beds, 12 consulting/treatment rooms, an Accident & Emergency department and x-ray facilities.
It will also provide accommodation for the Aviemore GP practice along with community health and care teams. There will also be physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, chemotherapy, a midwife service and a Scottish Ambulance Service base.
The facility is one of two community hospitals for NHS Highland in a £30.5 million project. The second hospital will be the new Skye, Lochalsh & South Wester Ross community hospital at Broadford on Skye.
