South Elgin community to benefit from new building
Hub North Scotland can confirm that practical completion was achieved on 8th December for the new Linkwood Primary School in Elgin, which we were delivering on behalf of the Moray Council.
The building, which was designed by JM Architects with Balfour Beatty as main contractor, has now been handed over to the local authority in preparation for pupils moving in early next month, following the festive break.
Work began on the greenfield site in March 2019. The school will serve the south Elgin area and can cater for up to 476-pupils. It will also have 50 nursery pupils and 12 Additional Support Needs pupils along with 53-staff.
The new school has a large sports hall and an outdoor classroom, an allotment, an external roof terrace and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).
Hub North project director Ewen Fowlie said: “We are delighted to reach this landmark after a lot of hard work by the partners involved. The new school is a fabulous facility which will serve the south Elgin community for generations to come.”
