Recognition for innovation and consultancy efforts
hub North Scotland has been shortlisted in two categories for this year’s Education Buildings Scotland Awards.
Our collaborative North Schools Programme is shortlisted for the Innovation in Delivering Value section. The project brought together three local authorities – the Highland Council, the Moray Council and Aberdeenshire Council – to deliver three new learning estate and community campus facilities.
The three local authorities worked together to create a pioneering methodology to finance and construct £131 million of new estate for 3,050-pupils. The programme comprises of the £55.3 million Inverurie Community Campus for Aberdeenshire Council; the £41.8 million Lossiemouth High School for the Moray Council and the £33.8 million Alness Community Campus for The Highland Council.
By coming together to adopt a common approach and share experiences and lessons learned, the participants have created a single pathway to developing teaching, learning and community spaces along with a programme wide supply chain for consistent pricing and raising construction quality assurance standards. It is also delivering widespread community benefits along with significant employment, training and workforce skills opportunities, which add important social value.
In addition, hub North Scotland has also been shortlisted for the Consultancy of the Year for its work on a number of school projects including Lochside Academy in Aberdeen, Oban High School, Campbeltown Grammar School, Dunoon Primary School, and Linkwood Primary School in Elgin, along with the Alness, Lossiemouth and Inverurie developments.
Michael Padzinski, chief executive of hub North Scotland, said: “It is wonderful news to see our work on all these projects being recognised in this way and it is a testament to the partnership approach adopted by all our participants to help deliver some excellent new schools.”
The winners will be announced at the awards dinner in Edinburgh on Thursday 27th November.
