Construction starts as turf cutting marks official commencement of work at £36million development.
The construction of the new Oban High School has reached an important milestone after a turf cutting ceremony was held to mark the official start of its build.
Teachers, pupils and other key stakeholders in the project gathered at the site yesterday (June 27).
The complex, which will be able to cater for more than 1,000 pupils from a mix of town and rural catchment areas, will be delivered by hub North Scotland after it was appointed development partner by Argyll and Bute Council. Morrison Construction has been appointed as main contractor.
Angus Macfarlane, chief executive of hub North Scotland, said: “This turf cutting is a key step in helping the new Oban High School become a reality, with construction on the project now officially underway.
“hub North Scotland is delighted to be working alongside Argyll and Bute Council and we are committed to delivering a first-class facility that the people of Oban will be proud of for generations to come.”
