Wick RBLS Pipe Band has received a timely cash boost from the organisation responsible for delivering two of the area’s newest community facilities.
The pipe band has received support to the tune of £1,000 from hub North Scotland, the driving force behind the planning, procurement and delivery of the new Wick Community Campus and Noss Primary School.
Hub North Scotland chief executive Angus Macfarlane presented the band with the cheque at its recent AGM, with the funds timely as the group prepares to begin making major improvements to its hall on the town’s High Street.
John Bogle, secretary of Wick RBLS Pipe Band, said: “On behalf of Wick RBLS Pipe Band, I’d like to thank hub North Scotland for its extremely generous donation of £1,000. This is both timely and greatly appreciated as the band gears up to making a number of improvements to its pipe band hall.
“Hub North Scotland’s support of groups is of great benefit to the local community here in Wick and it is fantastic to receive this level of support from organisations which are active in the area.”
Angus Macfarlane, chief executive of hub North Scotland, said: “As the Wick Community Campus and Noss Primary School projects continue to progress, we have reinforced our commitment to investing in the local economy in and around Wick and the support of Wick RBLS Pipe Band is very much an integral part of this.
“The pipe band in Wick is much loved and has been a mainstay of the town for a number of years so we’re delighted to be able to help something that brings much benefit and joy to so many people in the area.”
